First motion integration with ds.tools
We recently teamed up with ds.tools, developer of distributed simulation integration tools, who recently completed their first integration of HLA/DIS and motion technology. This allows a significant reduction of integration time for remote cross platform training and opens new possibilities for remote learning and vivid simulation, much needed in this new pandemic reality. “Having the possibility to add a motion platform to an existing HLA or DIS simulation brings an entire new range of possibilities and adds a new level of realism” says Jean-Philippe Lebel, CEO at ds.tools
Successfully tested with multiple instances of X-Plane 11 running on different machines, the experience demonstrated that it is possible to embark on different entities seamlessly through DIS and that D-BOX Motion Platform will automatically follow the selected entity’s movements.
Since D-BOX Motion kept its on point feeling while running on HLA/DIS protocols, it opens the door to having a large number of trainees using a D-BOX motion-based simulator during a specific exercise.
Reducing cost, integration time and the motion sickness
Adding value to training as well, the HLA/DIS integration is an effective way to reduce the cost of expanding the number of motion-based simulators included in serious games. It also signals a significant reduction of integration time for remote cross platform training. “D-BOX is fully aware that recruitment and training for the military is shifting, that’s why we are keen on keeping our eyes out for innovative solutions that reflects the needs of the market” says Yannick Gemme, VP Sales at D-BOX.
In addition, training on D-BOX’s high fidelity, low footprint motion simulators reduce the motion sickness factor and negative learning from irregular haptic feedback of static simulators.
